I’m really sleepy and I wish I could say that I pulled an all nighter in a club or party or something fun. What actually happened was, I forced myself to finish the e-book I was reading. I eventually got to sleep at around 2am… book finished but with eyes that are killing me now.
This love affair with books once again got me into some sort of grief. Although my mind is not grieving at all, my eyes beg to differ.
No one actually believes my now when I say this, but I was painfully shy during my childhood years. So much so that my earliest friends are the books in the library and I get to go through 3 library cards per year! I love reading books, it doesn’t matter what genre it belongs in… I pick it up and get lost in the pages. When my parents enrolled mo to a speed reading classes, it was pure joy… I read twice as much as I used to and I was in heaven.
That love for books and reading never really left me. From Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys to Sweet Valley High and RL Stine to the classics of Louisa May Alcott, Shakespeare, Dante Alighieri and Charles Dickens to likes of Stephen King, J. K. Rowling and Cassandra Clare. The list goes on and on I tell you and it will just grow as I, myself, grows older (and maybe wiser).
So dear books of mine, with your clean new book smell (and even that slightly old book smell) or electronically produced pages, I look forward to our next get together!
