August 3, 2011 – We’re Engaged!!!
Since then we’ve been pretty busy preparing for our big day. I’m not really that particular about the date, time and place of our marriage. But what I do know is I’d like it a lot if we have a very simple celebration only. Not much of the frills whether it be in our gowns, our decorations/accessories, or even our food. I’d like to think na simpleng mamamayan lang kami, we enjoy simple things in life and we can’t complain about it. Therefore, we’d also love to translate that to our wedding too.
Join us in our journey towards our wedding day…
August 29, 2011 – Booked: Chapel on the Hill >> Yey for booking our church. I know it’s more than a year but most have suggested that we book our church as soon as we’ve decided on where we want to get married. Apparently, some churches are so in demand that it’s a must to book them as early as possible. We’re happy that we got the date we wanted. 🙂
September 17, 2011 – Supplier’s Meetup >> First ever meetup with prospect suppliers. It’s apparently pretty nerve-wracking… but hey, give us a break… we’ve never actually done this before you know. We’re hoping to be more relaxed next time or at least know how to ask the right questions.
September 19, 2011 – Booked: Bliss Events (replaced with The ONE Exclusive) >> Despite initially not wanting to get an OTD coordinator, we saw the light (after an ex-coordinator friend gave us the benefits of hiring one) and went ahead looking for a reputable team. It took me less than a month to find Bliss Events and it’s still pretty unbelievable for me how easy our transactions with Leiy was. She seems professional and we feel very comfortable with her. I have high hopes for this fairy-oddparent of ours.
September 25, 2011 – Supplier’s Meetup >> Second supplier meetup for us! Mostly couturiers this time and, yes, we’re more relaxed now. I know what questions to ask and how to present my pegs (like to orient the designers on what I like for each gown in my mood board before he/she starts drawing designs for me). This will be the last batch of couturier suppliers since I promised h2b that we’ll only me seeing the top 4 that I like the most. Decision time for me then…
October 14, 2011 – Booked: Emil Ocampo >> Another item off our list and I’m really excited about this one. Who among all the brides won’t be excited to finally book the couturier who will make her wedding gown? So there, I’m just being honest with myself when I say… “I’m excited!!!“. Ok, before I fall off my chair with excitement (word of the day… excitement. Hahaha… corny I know.). I can’t help but think that maybe getting Emil was like fate or it was meant to be. From the moment I came across his name and found out about his work it was like love at first sight. Even without meeting him, I already thought of getting him. Well, finally, here he is. Officially part of our Fairly Odd-parents. 🙂
October 21, 2011 – Booked: Gian & Fidji of Photoimagicraft >> Booked our favorite P/V couple and we’re so stoked! After exchanging a few emails we agreed to finally meetup last night and it was fun. Before the night ended we have our P/V supplier and, as a bonus, we even got 100 pcs “Thank You” cards as part of our freebies… so there, one less paper product off our list. Happiness!!!
October 27, 2011 – Booked: Makeup by Edz >> Met-up with Edz at her condo in Makati last night to book her team as our HAMU supplier. Despite being a new-comer in the industry, I was quite impressed with her portfolio. That, coupled with the good feedback I got from her former classmate in makeup class (how she’s supposedly part of the top 5 best artists in class), made me decide to get her. She’ll be doing my bridal makeup, the grooms and those of the mothers too. We got her bridal fair discount rates and I think that’s a real good deal. Anyway, I’m happy that she’ll be one of our fairy-oddparents. 😀
November 07, 2011 – Booked: Yellow Coco >> After initially not planning on getting a preps place, common sense kicked in and we decided to get one instead. Our wedding date is just a day before November 1 which is traditionally a holiday here, couple that with November 2, 2012 being a Friday we’ll most probably have a 4-day weekend then. With that being said, most people from the metro usually decided to spend long weekends (and in this case, All Soul’s Day) in their respective provinces where their beloved dead are buried or in beaches for their family outings. What a mess for us then. Traffic going to Batangas might affect us and since our initial prospect preps places are around 30 mins away from the church, we’re thinking this might get to 45 mins to an hour’s ride during that busy season. To avoid that headache and stress, we rented a place that’s just a stone’s throw away from the church.
November 07, 2011 – Booked: Sonya’s Garden >> Our last out-of-town supplier and our reception venue. After months of searching and discussions, we settled on Sonya’s as our venue. I love the one-with-nature feel and, if we want to, we need only to add minimal decors to the place. Plants and flowers are all around the area and, being someone who has this love affair with nature, this gives me that giddy happy feeling inside.
April 06, 2012 – DIY: Wedding Cord >> Ok fine, this ended up having two blog entries. One was posted when I started making our cord and the other was when I kinda made good progress… take note that there’s no entry about the finished product yet. I encountered a little, but significant, problem… namely using up all our supply of silver floral type end stopper. Bummer, and here I was hoping to have it finished by Sunday. *sigh* So anyway, that just means that I’m due one more entry for this one then.
April 25, 2012 – Almost 6 more months to go till D-day… we’ve been pretty busy with our DIY items and supplier meetups. It feels like time is starting to move in fast-forward and we still have a lot of things to do. I’m just happy we’re done with booking our major suppliers last year so now we can focus on the smaller things. Still, I’m pretty optimistic on how things will turn out. 🙂
May 3, 2012 – Booked: The ONE Exclusive >> It was with a heavy heart that we decided to let go of our previous coordinator and book The ONE Exclusive. We only have praises for the work done and attention we got from our previous coordinator supplier and we surely will recommend them to other soon-to-wed couples. Our meetup with The ONE Exclusive was a very fruitful one and we listed our reasons for getting them.
May 12, 2012 – Supplier Review: Freenup Experience >> Had our first taste of a photo shoot. OMG, it was tiring and our jaws are aching from all those smiles we had to produce! I wonder the stamina of the models who have to model for hours on end. Anyway, click the link and read on what happened on that day and on what we think of the venue and our photographer.
May 20, 2012 – Photos: Freenup Experience >> The photos from our freenup are finally out!!! 🙂
May 27, 2012 – DIY: Wedding Cord and Bride’s Rosary >> We are sooooo done with our first 2 DIY project!!! All the hard work was really worth it and we’re both proud of the results. And I am personally proud of h2b for finishing the bride’s rosary (even if he was bitching about it all the while). Hehehe… We both had a great time while doing the projects and we’re looking forward to the next ones in our list. Happiness!!! 😀
June 3, 2012 – Bride’s First Fitting – Check! >> First fitting of my gown and I’m happy with what I’m seeing so far. Emil is really talented and kind enough to hear out my suggestions (considering I know next to nothing about clothing and style… for real!). This will be the one and only time I’m posting pictures of my fitting cause I want it to be a wedding day surprise for my family and friends (as if they’re reading my blog… one can dream right?). Can’t wait for the next fitting schedule… I wanna see how it all comes together.
June 15, 2012 – DIY: Boutonnieres in the Making >> Boutonnieres in progress for the male members of the entourage. Posting the first batch here. I was only able to do only 3 pieces but my fingers are practically shouting out in frustration! Hahaha…
August 8, 2012 – We’re now within the 3-month mark and we’ve been busier like we’ve never been busy before. So far we’re done with getting my baptismal and confirmation certificate whil h2b have already has his confirmation certificate (baptismal certificate to follow soon… I hope!). We’ve already applied for our respective birth certificates and CENOMAR. We are so done with the prenup session and we’ve already compiled our childhood/schooldays/etc materials for the photo montage. Before the month ends we’ll be having our food tasting at Sonya’s and the parents (plus h2b) will have their first fitting while I’ll be having my 3rd one. Next on the agenda is finding our invite printer supplier and finishing the DIY items for the entourage. Everything looks good so far. 🙂
August 18, 2012 – DIY: Boutonnieres – All Done! >> Yey, boutonnieres for our male entourage are already over and done with! It took more than a month owing to the fact that we had a hard time looking for the bar pins. We went to Carolina’s but unfortunately they didn’t have it in stock. We were beyond relived when we found a batch in Landmark… mind you this was even by accident. I was looking for studded hair pins and saw the bar pins instead. I guess it was fate then. Still, we’re just happy to have this crossed-out from our list.
August 22, 2012 – DIY: Flower Girls Headband >> One more DIY item off the list and I’m so proud that h2b was the one who made it this time. 🙂
August 25, 2012 – Food Tasting at Sonya’s Garden >> We finally had our food tasting. Most of what we sampled was great although a couple did not really impress us much. Nevertheless, we’ve already decided on our menu and that’s another item off our list.
August 27, 2012 – DIY: Entourage Wrist Corsages >> Another long weekend has come and gone… of course we made the most out of it too! This will be the last one we’re having (until November) and we’re so glad we got to finish not only the food tasting but also our DIY for the female entourage. Up next, we’ll try to do flower pomander balls for the flower girls. *fingers crossed*
September 8, 2012 – DIY: Flower Girl Pomander >> Since Chapel on the Hill won’t allow us to shower flower petals (or any such things) inside the church, we tried to look for an alternative for our flower girls then. I came across a few ideas… ball pomanders, flower wands, floral wristlets, etc. But I decided to use the pomanders since they seem to be the easiest and most fun to do among all of them. Also, I think the little girls will enjoy playing around with the pomanders without the danger of either breaking them into two (for the wands) or accidentally losing them (for the wristlets). We did have fun making the pomanders and I (mostly) had fun bullying boyfie into doing all the cutting and gluing too! Hehehe… *meany*
September 9, 2012 – Our Monogram >> We’ve finally chosen our monogram design and so we can have our invites printed too! We need the monogram designs for our invite flap closure thing. Yeah, with less than 2 months to go, we’re cutting it real close aren’t we. But still… inhale… exhale… relaaaaaaaaax. We’re trying to be Zen about this.
September 16, 2012 – Update: Marriage License, Submit Church Documents & Canonical Interview >> By this time we’ve applied for and submitted most of the documents we need. We’re also done with the canonical interview and even paid for 50% the amount for our reception. All I can honestly say is *ouch*! Up next are our pre-cana seminar, wedding invite printing, and posting of marriage banns. Hectic!!!
September 23, 2012 – Update: Pre-cana Seminar, Submit Marriage Bann/Permission to Marry – Check! >> All our church related requirements are getting crossed-out one after the other. Just a couple more and we’re all set. We found the pre-cana both boring (the catechism about marriage session) and very much a learning experience (the marriage counselling session). I would personally recommend couples planning to get married to attend one such seminar since this would help them understand the spiritual importance of getting married inside the Catholic church and will also help them understand themselves and what they’re getting into.
September 29 and 30, 2012 – Update: Final Fitting and DIY Invites >> The last weekend of September was a whirlwind of activities for us. We hardly had a weekend to call that’s really our own, it’s been taken over by our wedding preps!
October 2, 2012 – Save The Date 10.31.2012 >> OMG I’m super stoked that our Save The Date/Teaser video is finally out!!! Considering how unphotogenic I am, still can’t believe how well this turned out. I guess our P&V are just plain magicians. Hahaha…
October 28, 2012 – DIY: Guestbook >> Final weekend before D-day and we’re still quite busy with some DIY items we have. Still, quite happy with the outcome of this project. Thanks to my sister who did all the layout and to h2b who cut off all the excess borders. Updates… included photos of the actual guestbook used during our reception. Enjoy!
November 3, 2012 – Update: Wedding Stories and Highlights >> I actually want to sing… “All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go…” Or something to that effect. We are soooooo done!!! Thank God for (what I believe is) a very successful wedding day. Supplier’s review (and ratings) to follow. Stay tuned… 🙂
